Austin
Lux
is the son of Polka Dots co-owner, Heather
Lux. Austin was diagnosed
at 3 months of age, with Neuroblastoma Stage IV-S, a rare, pediatric form of cancer. At Polka Dots, we are dedicated to finding a cure for
all forms of pediatric cancer. Friends of Austin is a non-profit organization which benefits various
pediatric cancer research and treatment facilities.
Between now
and December 20th, Polka Dots is collecting new, unwrapped toys for
the children of the Blume Hematology & Oncology Clinic, located
in Charlotte, North Carolina. Austin received his chemotherapy
at The Blume Clinic and made lots of friends with other brave boys
and girls who are fighting terrible diseases. The toys we
collect will be given to the patients of The Blume Clinic during
their holiday check ups, and throughout the year at their Birthday
and End of Chemo Parties Please help us celebrate these
incredible children by delivering some hope and holiday cheer to
them and their families this season. For more
information on how you can host a Friends of Austin Tree in your
area, contact us at: friendsofaustin@polkadotsstationery.com.
We are pleased to report that Austin is
currently in remission. Other than a small mass of benign
cells on his adrenal gland, he is a perfectly normal, energetic
and wacky two year old! We thank our customers,
community, friends, neighbors and family for all of their support and kindness over the past two years.
